Swedberg Wood Products was founded in 1982 by Jim and Diana Swedberg and has been creating high-end custom cabinetry in Alexandria and the surrounding area ever since. For more than 40 years, we’ve built our reputation on exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and customer service that makes people feel taken care of from the very beginning.
Our Beginning
Our company was founded in 1982 by Jim Swedberg, at a time when much of the industry was shifting toward faster production and standardized solutions.
Jim took a different approach.
With a background in hands-on craftsmanship, he believed cabinetry should be built with intention—designed for the space it lives in and constructed with careful attention to detail.
In the early years, that meant staying close to the work—building each piece by hand, working directly with clients, and focusing on the kind of fit and finish that holds up over time.
Built Over Time
As the company grew, that mindset didn’t change—it expanded.
What started as a one-person operation became a team of about 20 people, but the priorities stayed consistent: thoughtful design, careful construction, and a process that respects the people it’s built for.
Many of the ways we work today—clear communication, attention to detail, and a steady, guided process—come directly from those early standards.
